Tanzanite (or Zoisite) is fairly new to the gemstone market, having been introduced by Tiffany & Co. in 1967. This gemstone comes in a variety of colors and shades, with the dark bluish-purple color the most sought-after and the highest priced.

The medium color is the most common today and recently, a green variety has been discovered. The green ranges from slightly yellowish green to gray green and a bluish green. The green colors are still limited in supply.
